SWUFE News, May 23, 2017. The Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) Academic Conference 2017 was held in SWUFE during May 18 and 19. Deans, professors and entrepreneurs from 38 business schools and institutions of Asia-Pacific region and other places partook in in-depth exchanges and discussions entitled “New Practice in Entrepreneurship Education at Asia-Pacific Business Schools”. Vice President, professor YIN Qingshuang attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
Professor YIN Qingshuang expressed thanks to people presented on behalf of SWUFE. He said, in the historical course of global economic and social development, entrepreneurship has always been impetus driving the economic and social progress. Competitive individuals with innovation awareness and capability are immensely needed in China, Asia-Pacific region and the rest of the world. Therefore, universities should carry out their work of education by cultivating innovative talents with entrepreneurship. Professor Yin also expressed his expectation that the conference could provide some insights of entrepreneurship education for Asia-Pacific region countries. As such, universities’ function as educating people can be better exerted, regional economic and social development can be driven and mutual beneficial and win-win progress can be realized, and eventually creating a brighter future.
Dean of Asian Institute of Business in Philippines Jikyeong Kang delivered a keynote speech from a global perspective, described the current challenges and opportunities faced global entrepreneurship education, and proposed an entrepreneurship education model based on “4P”: purpose, proficiencies, program and positioning. Executive Dean of School of Finance, SWUFE ZHAO Jingmei pointed out that colleges and universities and educators should make timely adjustment as the current entrepreneurship education is limited by some deficiencies of traditional education model. Professor Zhao also advocated to improve entrepreneurship education model and to expand entrepreneurship education coverage by centering on creativity, adaptability and executive ability.
In the segment of “entrepreneur shares experience”, founder of Shuzhilian Technology Co. Ltd, Professor ZHOU Tao with University of Electronic Science and Technology, and alumni of SWUFE once majored in MBA of Grade 2006—LONG Miao and others shared their experience and feelings about starting a business, and they provided some suggestions about entrepreneurship education on the basis of reality.
During the panel discussion, representatives from SWUFE, Keio University, Fudan University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and Zhejiang University made speeches surrounded by the theme.
Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) was established in 2004. There are now over 140 member schools including council member schools. As a regional, non-profit organization initiated by top business schools in this area, AAPBS has improved business education level in Asia-Pacific region through effective cooperation since its founding, and cultivated many more business talents for the sake of regional prosperity. AAPBS convenes two important international conferences each year, an annual conference and an academic conference, aiming to put member schools together to discuss cutting-edge theories and the best practices of business education in Asia-Pacific region. SWUFE joined AAPBS in 2014.
