On December 4, 2023, the Confucius Institute at St. Cyril and Methodius University invited Professor Sara Cvetanovska, a well-known Sinologist, to hold a lecture on "Chinese Modern Literature through the Life and Works of Lu Xun and Zhang Ailing." It attracted a large number of Chinese culture lovers. The lecture was held at NUB "St. Kliment Ohridski" at 7 p.m.
First, Professor Sara Cvetanovska and the guests were warmly welcomed by Professor Liao Wei, the Chinese director of the Confucius Institute.
Professor Sara Cvetanovska introduced the audience to the works of famous Chinese authors Lu Xun and Zhang Ailing. She began her presentation with a brief historical overview of the time these two famous Chinese contemporary literature writers lived and worked. She referred to their dedication and creativity in creating representative works during a turbulent period. By doing so, she brought the audience closer to a part of contemporary Chinese literary creation in a subtle way. In the end, the professor enthusiastically answered questions from the audience.
The closing remarks were addressed by Professor Vlatko Stoilkov, the Macedonian director of the Confucius Institute, expressing great gratitude to Professor Sara Cvetanovska for the wonderful presentation of these two famous Chinese authors. This lecture deepened the audience's understanding of modern Chinese literature and promoted cultural exchanges between China and North Macedonia.
