From August 3rd to 4th, the High-end Forum on Innovation and Development of Contemporary Marxist Political Economy & 2019 Academic Annual meeting of the Research Institute of Political Economics, hosted by the Research Institute of Political Economics of SWUFE, the secretary department of the annual meeting of China political economy, sponsored by School of Economics, Institute of Marxist Economics of SWUFE, School of Economics of Sichuan University and Economist magazine, was held in Chengdu. More than 40 people, including representatives from prestigious national universities and research institutions, such as Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Fudan University, Sichuan University, Xiamen University, Northwestern University, Anhui University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law as well as editors of well-known journals such as Economic Research, Economist and The Journal of Humanities, attended the seminar. YIN Qingshuang, Vice President for Research and International Affairs, together with responsible persons of the School of Economics, along with teachers and students attended the meeting. YI Minli, Executive Dean of the School of Economics, presided over the opening ceremony.
On behalf of SWUFE, YIN Qingshuang extended a warm welcome to the participants. He stressed that innovating and developing contemporary Marxist political economy, especially socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics in the new era, is an important task entrusted to us by the times. We must continue to carry out practical exploration and theoretical innovation in accordance with the instructions on learning and making good use of political economy. He pointed out that SWUFE adheres to the guidance of the thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, comprehensively implements the educational policy, and conscientiously implements the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating people. Under the guidance of the strategic goal of international well-known financial universities with distinct and high-level research characteristics, we should closely focus on the discipline layout of "New Finance and Economics" in the new era, and firmly promote the construction of world-class disciplines with Chinese characteristics. He also pointed out that as one of the seven platforms of the Publicity Department of the CPC, the Research Institute of Political Economics will strive to build a platform for research, propaganda, and personnel training of socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics, and vigorously promote the construction of discipline system, theoretical system and discourse system of socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics.
The theme of this forum is "Innovation and Development of Contemporary Marxist Political Economy". The four stages of the keynote speeches were presided over respectively by Prof. ZHENG Hongliang, the Associated Editor-in-Chief of Economic Research, Prof. GAI Kaicheng, the Vice Dean of the School of Economics, Prof. LAI Xiaoqiong of Xiamen University and Prof. MENG Jie of Fudan University. WANG Zhiwei of Peking University, ZHAO Xuezeng of Henan University, LI Jiande of Jiangxi Normal University, YAN Fashan of Fudan University, JIANG Yongmu of Sichuan University, WANG Yiming of Xiamen University, WU Fenghua of Northwestern University, LU Xianxiang of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, GONG Gang from Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, HOU Weimin from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, HUA Deya from Anhui University, ZHANG Xian from Sichuan University, and more than 20 experts from SWUFE, such as LIU Can, DING Renzhong, ZHAO Lei, JIANG Nanping, WU Yin, HAN Wenlong, etc., delivered keynote speeches on rural land issues, the construction, innovation and high-quality development of political and economic theoretical system of socialism featured Chinese characteristics, as well as methodology of political economy and digital labor processes. On the morning of August 4th, participating experts and scholars attended the annual meeting of China's political economy (2019) to review the manuscripts.
This high-end forum on innovation and development of contemporary Marxist political economy is an ideological feast to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of People’s Republic of China, to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the report of the 19th CPC National Congress, vigorously promote the development and innovation of socialist political economy featured Chinese characteristics in the new era and constantly sum up practical experience and enhance the development of theoretical innovation. The 2019 academic annual meeting of the Research Institute of Political Economics of SWUFE is a mid-year meeting to summarize its recent work and carry out work arrangements. It is beneficial to establish cooperative relations and share research resources with major research institutions and experts throughout the country.
