On September 12, SWUFE held the opening ceremony for the new students simultaneously at Liulin campus and Guanghua Campus. More than 7,000 new students from home and around the globe gathered to embark on their new journey in college.
The university leadership present at the ceremony include ZHAO Dewu(Party Secretary), ZHUO Zhi (President), PENG Long(Executive Vice President), MA Xiao(Deputy Party Secretary), ZENG Daorong(Deputy Party Secretary), FAN Weihong(Deputy Party Secretary), YIN Qingshuang(Vice President), SHI Daimin(Vice President), ZHANG Bangfu(Vice President), and LI Yongqiang(Vice President). Heads of administrative offices, deans, faculty representatives, alumni representatives also attended the event along with all the new students, bearing witness to the solemn moment. ZHAO Dewu, party secretary of SWUFE presided over the ceremony and President ZHUO Zhi delivered a key-note speech.
The opening ceremony started with a national flag raising ceremony.
Zhao Dewu, party secretary of SWUFE, conveyed sincere messages to the freshmen. He mentioned that SWUFE has played an important role in the higher education endeavor in China. Over the past 96 years since its inception, SWUFE has stood with the nation and made its way through all vicissitudes. Its development and growth embodied the changing landscape of Chinese higher education. ZHAO encouraged the new students to pursue their dreams and live up to the expectations of the country.
President Zhuo Zhi gave a speech and extended a warm welcome to the new students on behalf of the teachers, students and staff. He called on the freshmen to set high ambitions and strive to be great talent; to shoulder great responsibilities and take the initiative to step out of the "comfort zone" both in study and in life, pursue in-depth academic research and explore the "no man's land" of scientific and technological innovation. With perseverance and effort, one can continuously make new breakthroughs.
Professor Xu Zhi, the representative of the faculty, shared with the students his personal experience of studying and teaching at SWUFE. He hoped the students to cultivate "great sense", build "great vision", and promote great love.
Lu Hongda, the representative of the SWUFE alumni, recalled the life in his alma mater with deep feeling. He encouraged the students to cherish the wonderful time in the university, improve their studies, devote themselves to practice, pay attention to the cultivation of all-around quality, and strive to be the inheritor and striver of SWUFE spirit of "making unremitting efforts to advance the well-being of the public" in the new era.
TANG Yuting, HE Yufan, HU Shutong, and QIN Taojie, representatives of the new cohort, sincerely expressed to desire to follow the fine tradition of the university and strive to make a difference.
All new students then put on the school badge and solemnly swore an oath.
The opening ceremony concluded with the anthem of SWUFE.
