On the morning of September 25th, the SWUFE-UD Institute of Data Science held an orientation for the class of 2021 in Hongyuan Building.  Li Yongqiang, Vice President of SWUFE, attended the meeting together with heads of the Academic Affairs Office and the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, as well as other Chinese personnel of the Institute.  Professor Charlie Riordan, Vice President of the University of Delaware, Professor Rick Andrews, associate dean of SWUFE-UD Institute of Data Science, and members of the Institute’s Joint Management Committee and Joint Program Director attended the conference via video link.  Parents of the freshmen attended the orientation via a live webcast.

On behalf of SWUFE, Li extended a warm welcome to all the new students.  He expressed his hope that the students would take the "navigation map", the "telescope" for communication and the "capstone" for life with them, strive to grasp the trend of the development of the times, cultivate the global awareness and vision, foster the feelings of home and nation, and draw a new chapter for their future life.

Charlie Riordan shared with students online the history of innovation and development at the University of Delaware featuring "global education," inspiring students to work hard and use unique innovative thinking to make a difference.

Prof. Shilei Yang, Dean of the SWUFE-UD Institute of Data Science, Associate Dean Prof. Rick Andrews, Prof. Bruce Weber, Dean of the Lerner School of Business at the University of Delaware, and Prof. Jennifer Gregan congratulated the freshmen.
