SWUFE Faculty Invited to Participate in the High-end Roundtable of the "Shanghai Forum 2021" Annual Meeting



On October 29, 2021, the "Shanghai Forum 2021" annual meeting was held. Professor Dong Yan, Director of the Center for African Studies of SWUFE, was invited to participate in the high-end roundtable "BRICS Cooperation in a Post-pandemic Era: New Opportunities, New Impetus and New Challenges".


Professor Dong Yan pointed out that the BRICS countries and RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) have common demands. Both parties can strengthen cooperation in the fields of infrastructure construction, digital economy and education to more effectively leverage the role of emerging economies in global governance.


The conference was hosted by Fudan University and co-organized by the BRICS Research Center of Fudan Development Research Institute and the School of Economics, Campinas University, Brazil. The conference guests also included: Shen Yi, Director of the BRICS Research Center at Fudan Development Institute; Ye Yu, Associate Researcher at the Institute of World Economy at The Shanghai Institutes for International Studies; Bruno De Conti, professor at the School of Economics at the University of Campinas in Brazil and Director of the Confucius Institute; David Monyae, Director of the Center for China-Africa Studies at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, and other scholars from Chinese and foreign think tanks and universities. The meeting focused on the opportunities and challenges of cooperation among BRICS countries in the post-pandemic era, and jointly discussed effective strategies for "turning crises into opportunities" and feasible paths for the cooperation and development of BRICS countries.
