On December 20th, SWUFE’s Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) received a notice from the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) that SWUFE’s FBA was officially granted a three-year reaccreditation.
EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation was established by the European Management Development Foundation. It is known for its comprehensiveness and rigor in assessment and it is one of the three international accreditations. The School of Business Administration of SWUFE won the EQUIS accreditation for the first time in 2014, which was the first EQUIS accreditation won by a business school in central and western China. In 2016, in order to give full play to the overall advantages of the business administration discipline, SWUFE established the Faculty of Business Administration, with the School of Business Administration, Western Business School and the Research Institute of Economics and Management as member units. FBA passed EQUIS accreditation for the first time in 2017. In 2020, the SWUFE-UD Institute of Data Science at SWUFE became a new member unit of FBA, and FBA has officially won the EQUIS reaccreditation in 2021.
Under the strong leadership and support of the university, SWUFE's EQUIS reaccreditation task force was formally assembled in July 2020. Under the leadership of the task force, FBA has successively carried out a series of concrete preparations for re-accreditation. In September 2021, headed by Marie Wilson, Vice President of the University of South Australia, the EQUIS accreditation peer review team conducted (online) review of FBA. SWUFE leaders highly valued the peer review process and cordially met with the PR team via video link. The PR team conducted a three-day all-round assessment and data review on FBA, and offered FBA unanimous affirmation. In particular, they commended the strong external environment support, diversified programs, excellent student quality, high-level administrative standards, and outstanding social contributions of FBA.
The successful reaccreditation of FBA is of great significance for promoting the comprehensive strengths of SWUFE's Business Administration Discipline, advancing SWUFE's "double first-class" construction, and accelerating the establishment of an internationally renowned, world-class university with distinctive financial characteristics. In the future, under the strong leadership of the university, the Faculty of Business Administration will continue to adhere to the principle of promoting discipline construction and development through the accreditation and assessment mechanism, and make unremitting efforts to cultivate management talents with social responsibility, build the brand of global business education in West China and serve the economic growth and prosperity of China.
