SWUFE Students Made a Historic Breakthrough in the 14th Chinese Mathematics Competition for College Students

On May 28, the Final of the 14th Chinese Mathematics Competition for College Students hosted by the Chinese Mathematical Society drew to a close at Guangdong University of Technology. After intense competition, four students from SWUFE won our first ever two first prizes and two second prizes. Specifically, Pan Liang from the School of Mathematics won the provincially only first prize in the Final of the Mathematics Competition for Senior Grades in Sichuan; Yang Haoyu from the School of Accounting won first prize in the Final of Non-mathematics Competition; Qin Qi from the School of Finance and Li Lei from the School of Mathematics won second prize respectively.


As a national competition to gauge the basic teaching level of colleges and universities and the construction of mathematics, the Chinese Mathematics Competition for College Students has become a high-level academic competition with the greatest influence and the largest number of participants. This time, a total of 231,769 students from 1,024 colleges and universities in 32 areas nationwide participated in the competition. 816 students from SWUFE entered their names for the competition.


The Mathematics Competition Group of the School of Mathematics is responsible for the organization, training, guidance and other related work of this Competition. During the COVID-19 pandemic, SWUFE instructors overcame all kinds of difficulties, guided students to prepare for the Competition actively, and cultivated their self-learning ability and innovation ability. As one of the Preliminary Competition Fields, the School of Mathematics successfully organized 28 exams and ranked second in Sichuan Province. The participants won 457 prizes in the preliminary competition. The number of both participants and winners is the largest in history. The number of first-prize winners in the Non-mathematics Competition accounted for 17.13% in the province. One student won first prize in the group, and four students entered the national finals.
