SWUFE Leader Led a Delegation to Visit Singapore and Malaysia

From March 7th to 13th, Sun Dianming, Deputy Secretary of the SWUFE Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee, led a delegation to Singapore and Malaysia upon invitation to attend conferences and engage in work visits. Accompanying the delegation were officials from the university’s Party Committee Office, the Party Committee Inspection Office, and the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation.

During their visit to Singapore, Sun Dianming and his delegation attended the Forum on “Education Reform in the Digital Era and Global Competitiveness”, hosted by Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Sun Dianming delivered a keynote speech titled "Opportunities, Challenges, and Practices Facing Higher Economic and Financial Education in the Digital Economy Era: A Case Study of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics." He focused on discussing trends in educational transformation in the digital age, sharing the university's practices and reflections on the development of digital economy disciplines, talent cultivation, scientific research, and innovative social services. Particularly emphasized were the new mechanisms for talent cultivation in the "New Finance and Economics" field, as well as the construction and achievements of two "Integrated Innovation Platforms." Sun Dianming also participated in discussions with other participants on the impact of digital education transformation on global competitiveness. Minister-Counsellor Han Jun from the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, Nanyang Technological University's Deputy President and Provost Lin Shan, Associate Vice President Liu Hong, and Chen Zhenchuan Foundation Board Member Zhou Guishan attended the forum.



While in Singapore, Sun Dianming and his delegation visited Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, and Singapore Management University, focusing on in-depth discussions on topics such as educational reforms, discipline construction, talent cultivation, and research cooperation in the digital economy era. The SWUFE delegation also invited leaders from these universities to participate in the university's centennial celebration activities.

Sun Dianming and his delegation held talks with Chai Kah Hin, Associate Provost (Masters’ Programs and Lifelong Education) of the National University of Singapore, and Chew Ek Peng, Director of the Center for Maritime Studies. Discussions revolved around strengthening maritime research and developing the "blue economy." They explored new modes of cooperation in talent cultivation and scientific research to serve the development of new productive forces. Chai Kah Hin warmly welcomed the delegation, affirmed the foundation of cooperation between the two institutions, and looked forward to enhancing academic exchanges and expanding interdisciplinary cooperation in maritime affairs and economic management.

Meetings were also held with Cheong Wei Yang, Vice Provost (Strategic Research Partnerships) of Singapore Management University. Sun Dianming reviewed the close cooperation and exchanges between the two institutions over the years, especially highlighting the exploration and achievements of building two "Integrated Innovation Platforms." Cheong Wei Yang expressed that the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics is a long-term friendly partner of Singapore Management University. He emphasized their deep cooperation in multiple disciplines and fields, particularly mentioning the establishment of the College of Integrative Studies in 2022, which integrates disciplines such as business, economics, computer science, and law. He looked forward to strengthening cooperation in interdisciplinary construction and research on the digital economy, ushering in a new chapter of cooperation in education reform together.

During their time in Malaysia, Sun Dianming and his delegation visited the University of Malaya and Xiamen University Malaysia. As part of the Forum on “Education Reform in the Digital Era and Global Competitiveness”, the University of Malaya shared its innovative educational measures in the digital age and international talent cultivation initiatives with the attendees. The President of Xiamen University Malaysia, Wang Ruifang, met with the delegates, while Vice President Zhang Ying introduced the establishment and academic experience of the university. Discussions were held on overseas education and further cooperation.


This visit underscores SWUFE's commitment to enhancing international exchanges and cooperation in education, fostering innovation, and contributing to global educational development.
