Southwestern University of Finance and Economics Successfully Hosts 8th International Cultural Festival

CHENGDU, May 21 – The 8th International Cultural Festival unfolded at the Jimin Square of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE)’s Liulin Campus, attracting participants from 88 countries and regions along with Chinese students. This celebration of global diversity was graced by the presence of university officials, including Chairman of the University Council Zhao Jianjun, President Li Yongqiang, Vice President Li Zhisheng, the local administrative department for international students, representatives of relevant departments on campus, teachers, and students.



In his opening remarks, Vice President Li Zhisheng extended heartfelt congratulations on the successful commencement of the festival. Emphasizing SWUFE's commitment to deepening its openness as a core strategy, he underscored the institution's dedication to fostering an "international perspective, Chinese sentiment, financial expertise, and SWUFE elite" among international students. Themed "Telling China's Story Globally, Writing SWUFE's Chapters Grandly," this year's event aimed to facilitate cultural exchange, enhance Sino-foreign friendships, and create a harmonious platform for mutual understanding among diverse cultures.



The ceremony commenced with a vibrant lion dance, encapsulating the essence of traditional Chinese culture, followed by a dazzling array of performances that included Chinese songs, classical dances, Hanfu fashion shows, Baguazhang martial arts demonstrations, and instrumental music recitals by students representing different parts of the world.



Forty-five meticulously curated booths took center stage, immersing attendees in a global cultural journey. An interactive experience zone featured intangible cultural heritage workshops where participants could engage in hands-on activities such as sugar painting, seal printing, and bamboo weaving, thereby experiencing firsthand the allure of traditional Chinese craftsmanship.

This edition of the International Cultural Festival showcased the richness of global cultures and served as a conduit for Chinese students to share their stories with the world. It reinforced the "Study at SWUFE" brand, fostering a robust international ambiance, unifying students from home and abroad, and reinforcing a shared SWUFE identity. By promoting cross-cultural dialogue and understanding, the festival has solidified its position as a hallmark event for SWUFE, reflecting the university's commitment to international cooperation and cultural exchange.
