International Symposium on Financial Innovation 2024 Concludes Successfully at SWUFE


CHENGDU, June 3rd — Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) hosted the 2024 International Symposium on Financial Innovation and Award Ceremony, gathering scholars from around the globe. The event, held in Room 109 of the Hongyuan Building, explored the integration of generative artificial intelligence with financial innovation.


Li Yongqiang, President of SWUFE, and Yin Qingshuang, Vice President, attended the symposium. Professors Zhao Jianliang from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) and Kou Gang from SWUFE's Big Data Research Institute presided over the event.

In his opening remarks, Li Yongqiang highlighted the significance of establishing an English academic journal. He urged Financial Innovation to continue leading in addressing Chinese issues and enriching global knowledge with unique insights.

The symposium featured keynote speeches by esteemed academics, including Professor Enrique Herrera-Viedma, Vice-Rector of the University of Granada, who spoke on "Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence." Experts from Istanbul Medipol University, Tianjin University, Wenzhou-Kean University, De Montfort University, and King's College London discussed topics like crowdfunding for microgrid projects and tokenization of assets.

Li Yongqiang and Zhao Jianliang presented appointment letters to the inaugural cohort of young editorial board members of Financial Innovation. Dr. Han Jia, Managing Editor for Springer Nature Greater China, emphasized the publisher’s support over the journal's decade-long development.


At the awards ceremony, Yin Qingshuang congratulated the winners on behalf of the university. Awards for “Best Paper,” “Best Editorial Board Member,” and “Best Guest Editor” were given to scholars from China, the UK, Australia, and the USA. The first meeting of the Young Editorial Board, comprising 22 distinguished young scientists from 12 countries, discussed strategies for the journal's advancement.

Additionally, Li Zhisheng, Vice President, met with foreign expert representatives and agreed on future inter-university cooperation and exchange visits.

This symposium, supported by the Financial Innovation journal, significantly enhances the publication's academic influence, boosts SWUFE's international presence in finance, and contributes to China’s pursuit of technological self-reliance.
