CHENGDU, June 24, 2024 – The verdant growth of summer provided a picturesque backdrop as the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) hosted the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2024. Held at the Liulin Campus Gymnasium, the event marked the commencement of a new journey for the graduates.
The ceremony began with the solemn tones of SWUFE's anthem, followed by an electrifying performance of "My Appointment with 2035." Flag bearers representing various academic units marched in, symbolizing the aspirational journey ahead for the graduates.
Chairman Zhao Jianjun, presiding over the ceremony, emphasized the university's ethos of "serving the public good with perseverance." He highlighted SWUFE's dedication to education and its role in national prosperity, urging graduates to carry forward this spirit of service and dedication. Zhao called on them to uphold their ideals, work diligently for the country, and empathize with the people, fostering resilience through challenges.
President Li Yongqiang delivered an inspiring address titled "Shouldering the Mantle of Glory." He warmly congratulated the graduates and expressed gratitude to those who contributed to their development. President Li challenged the graduates to embrace their role as the "Nation's Strong Generation." He urged them to cultivate a deep love for their country, strengthen their character, and align their personal aspirations with national goals. Emphasizing empathy, global engagement, and the courage to lead, Li highlighted the importance of innovation and perseverance in driving national rejuvenation.
Vice President Shi Daimin then announced the degree conferment decisions, followed by Vice Chairman Sun Dianming, who recognized the 2024 Outstanding Graduates, the top doctoral and master's theses, and those lauded for grassroots employment and entrepreneurship. University leaders conferred diplomas and certificates to representative graduates and presented awards to distinguished recipients.
In a heartfelt speech, student representative Wang Yizhuo expressed gratitude towards the alma mater, parents, and peers. She pledged to uphold SWUFE's ethos, aspiring to become a socially responsible, innovative, and globally-minded finance professional.
A highlight of the ceremony was Chairman Zhao handing over the flag to the 26th Graduate Volunteer Teaching Team of SWUFE, urging them to serve where the nation and people need them most.
Additionally, Chairman Zhao and President Li Yongqiang honored companies recognized as the "Most Popular Among Graduates in 2024," extending sincere appreciation for their unwavering support.
As a gesture of gratitude and respect, graduates presented bouquets to university leaders, guests, faculty, and staff.
