On September 7th, the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) inaugurated the academic year for its Cohort of 2024 with a vibrant opening ceremony at the Liulin Campus's Chenxi Stadium. Over 7,800 new students from across China and around the world gathered to participate in the solemn event, marking the beginning of their academic journey.
The ceremony kicked off with a solemn flag-raising ceremony, followed by a performance by the Guanghua Choir, whose passionate rendition expressed the youthful energy and deep affection of SWUFE students for the nation.
An introductory video titled "The Path of Progress" was screened, showcasing the university's rich history spanning over a century, highlighting its contributions to building an educational powerhouse, and reflecting the dedication and hard work of generations of SWUFE members in serving the country through education.
In his address titled "The Vigorous SWUFE Force That Keeps Moving Forward," Chairman Zhao Jianjun welcomed the new students warmly, sharing heartwarming scenes from the registration period. He emphasized the importance of continuous progress, urging students to explore knowledge, maintain physical fitness, and develop resilience. He encouraged them to embody the spirit of SWUFE and contribute to China's modernization and the nation's rejuvenation.
Alumni representative and President of the Shenzhen Alumni Association, Wan Yong, advised the freshmen to align themselves with the times, enhance their comprehensive qualities, and carry forward the spirit of the alma mater through diligent practice.
The ceremony also featured a poignant video montage, "Dream Building at SWUFE," which captured the emotional moments of the new students' arrival on campus. The event culminated with the university leadership presenting school badges to selected students, symbolizing their official induction into the SWUFE community.
The inauguration concluded with all attendees singing the SWUFE anthem, solidifying the new students' commitment to upholding the university's mission and values.
