Giordano Tudino, an international master’s degree student at our Faculty of International Studies, published a paper as the first author in the December 2024 issue of Lingua (Vol. 312), a leading academic journal in Linguistics indexed in SSCI and A&HCI. This marks the first time an international student from our Faculty has contributed to a top-tier international journal, which fully demonstrates the continuous improvement of our Faculty in the cultivation of graduate students.
His research was completed under the supervision of Professor Qin Yan.
Adopting a corpus-driven approach, the study systematically compares academic texts generated by ChatGPT with human-written ones, aiming to identify the commonalities and differences in the use of English academic language between humans and machines. The paper integrates AI-generated texts into the analytical framework of corpus linguistics, extending the scope of corpus-based research and advancing knowledge in the analysis of AI-generated linguistic features. The findings also provide a theoretical basis for improving the adaptability of AI-generated language in academic contexts and offer new insights into incorporating Large Language Models into academic English education.
