On April 10, SWUFE held the "New Finance & Economics" Innovation Forum in the Digital Era, unveiling the "EconWeave" Chinese Economics Large Language Model (LLM). The event brought together leaders from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Central University of Finance and Economics, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, iFLYTEK, and Inspur Group, among others.

In the opening address, SWUFE Party Secretary Zhao Jianjun emphasized that digital technologies—LLMs, AI, and big data—are reshaping the economy, industries, and education at an unprecedented pace. He highlighted EconWeave as a strategic platform that integrates the academic strengths of eight universities and rich data on China’s economic practices. The model is designed to understand China’s unique context, analyze economic phenomena, and support policy formulation. Zhao Jianjun called for collective efforts to strengthen China’s independent economic knowledge system, drive digital transformation in finance and economics education, and tell China’s economic story to the world.

President Li Yongqiang and iFLYTEK Vice President Wang Zhanglong jointly launched "EconWeave." Following the launch, experts from iFLYTEK, Inspur, Huawei, Tencent Cloud, and SWUFE’s China Blockchain Research Center delivered keynote speeches covering foundational models, technological frontiers, scenario innovation, and educational transformation.

A round-table session followed, featuring representatives from Fudan University, Nankai University, Wuhan University, University of International Business and Economics, Tonghuashun Group, Huawei, CCB Fintech, and Chengdu Rural Commercial Bank. Discussions focused on two themes: "Empowering Top-tier Economics Talent Development with Digital Intelligence" and "Empowering Economics Scenarios with Digital Intelligence."

“EconWeave” is led by SWUFE and co-developed with the economics departments of Peking University, Fudan University, Nankai University, Wuhan University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. Built on iFLYTEK’s SparkX1.5-70B model, it features a full technical stack including multi-modal data processing and retrieval-augmented generation. The platform offers five core functions—EconWeave Teach, Learn, Research, Governance, and Global—and two signature features: EconWeave Premium Courses and Agent Arena. It aims to serve as a "super digital brain" for Chinese economics and has been selected as one of the Ministry of Education’s first batch of economics LLMs.
The event was attended by SWUFE faculty, students, alumni, and representatives from relevant university departments.
