On April 22, a signing ceremony for the institutional cooperation between Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) and Assumption University of Thailand was held at the Liulin Campus. The agreement was signed by Kitti Phothikitti, Vice President of Assumption University, Achin Tengtrakul, Vice President of Saint Gabriel’s College, and Li Zhisheng, Vice President of SWUFE.
Professor Li Zhisheng extended a warm welcome to Kitti Phothikitti and his delegation and shared an overview of SWUFE’s history, academic strengths, and international engagement. He noted that SWUFE remains committed to a strategy of “deep openness,” which has given rise to three distinctive features: a highly internationalized faculty, effective Sino-foreign cooperative education programs, and a strong global reputation. Over the past year, frequent exchanges between the two universities have built a solid foundation of trust and friendship. He expressed hope that this new agreement would broaden and deepen collaboration across areas such as joint talent development, student recruitment base construction, and non-degree education, creating shared development and mutual benefits.
Kitti Phothikitti thanked SWUFE for its hospitality and introduced the educational tradition and international vision of Assumption University and the Saint Gabriel’s Foundation. He praised SWUFE’s excellent reputation in business education, noting that Thai students have a strong interest in studying in China. He expressed hope for closer cooperation in fintech and innovative talent cultivation, leveraging SWUFE’s disciplinary strengths. Achin Tengtrakul provided an overview of Saint Gabriel’s School and looked forward to building a high-quality student recruitment base to create a more systematic and international talent training channel for Sino-Thai educational cooperation.
Following the talks, Li Zhisheng and Kitti Phothikitti signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of their respective institutions. The College of International Education and the Study Abroad Institute also signed program agreements with Assumption University and Saint Gabriel’s College.
