On June 17, SWUFE held its 2026 Commencement Ceremony at Chenxi Sports Ground. The event was attended by university leaders, deans, and heads of schools and administrative departments, faculty representatives, parents, and all graduating students of the Class of 2026.
The ceremony kicked off with an energetic flash mob, as students sang with youthful vitality, setting an uplifting tone for the occasion.
Following a solemn national anthem and the raising of the flag, the ceremony officially began.
Chairman Zhao Jianjun presided over the event and offered words of encouragement to the graduates. He encouraged them to embrace the weight of history and the call of development, to move forward with vigor and down-to-earth effort. He advised students to balance the "grand and the small", cherishing both national commitment and personal growth; to balance "speed and patience", daring to pursue dreams while allowing time for maturity; and to balance "knowledge and action", remaining curious and reflective while also engaging in hands-on practice.
President Li Yongqiang delivered a speech titled "Still Waters Run Deep: Serving Society and Going Far." He recalled the shared memories of the Class of 2026 and reflected on the value of "stillness" in a fast-paced world. He encouraged graduates to find clarity in quiet reflection, to observe life’s rhythms with insight, to gain wisdom through contemplation, and to build resilience through steadfastness. He reminded them that SWUFE will always be a harbor awaiting their return, and wished them the confidence to explore the world and shine in their own unique ways.
Vice President Li Zhisheng, also Vice Chairman of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, announced the degree conferral decisions. Vice Chairman Ming Haifeng presented the awards for Outstanding Graduates and the Guanghua Awards for Outstanding Doctoral and Master's Theses. University leaders presented diplomas and certificates to graduate representatives and honored the award recipients.
Graduate representative Su Zhuo'en shared his seven-year journey at SWUFE, expressing gratitude to faculty and staff for their guidance and companionship. He vowed to carry forward the university's spirit, integrate personal aspirations into the nation's rejuvenation, and realize life's value through service to society.
Graduates presented flowers to faculty, staff, and administrative representatives as tokens of appreciation for their steadfast support.
All graduates then raised their right fists and took a collective oath: to uphold the SWUFE spirit of "serving society and pursuing knowledge without cease," to strive with dedication, to achieve their best on the track of youth, and to contribute to China's modernization.
The ceremony concluded with the entire assembly singing the SWUFE alma mater song.
Following the formal ceremony, university leaders conferred degrees and took group photos with each graduate.
As the Class of 2026 sets out on their journey, they carry with them the SWUFE spirit and a commitment to serve society. With determination and youthful energy, they are ready to contribute to the nation's modernization and strive for excellence in all they pursue.
