Speaker’s Profile:

Prof. Andreozzi is a fashion designer and Professor of Apparel Design at the Rhode Island School of Design where she served as department head from 2010 to 2014. During that period, she forged curriculum-enriching academic partnerships with industry elite including Tommy Hilfiger (company), Hermes, Nicole Miller, Levi Strauss & Co., Urban Outfitters, Supima and Maybelline, as well as Merce Cunningham and Brown University. Catherine has exhibited her work internationally, including runway collections at 3D Print Show at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris and London, Museum of Fine Art in Boston, as well as showing collections in Milan, New York and Hong Kong Fashion Weeks.


Her work both individual and collaborative, has been featured in magazines and publications such as Vogue, WWD, ELLE, Huffington Post, Designboom, SuckerPUNCH Daily, People, Montreal Gazette, and The Vancouver Sun, to name a few.


Catherine has consulted with engineers at the Harvard Wyss Institute on a soft robotics glove and at MIT Media Lab on interactive domestic objects.


Lecture Preview

Students will be exposed to the design process with particular focus on conveying fashion drawing as the primary means to communicate their designs. Fashion designers start with concepts, inspiration and research, followed by the development of rough sketches to brainstorm and flush out ideas.
